  after dinner with trotafox tonight i drove home through ft lauderdale on a1a.

  i had forgotten how much i love this stretch of road.

  just driving it with all the people out and the clubs on your left, live music, people dancing and having fun, and then 30 ft or so to your right is the great atlantic ocean.

  Thanks for such an excellent post. I'm sending the link to the youngest Rockette. She struggles with self-esteem daily. Now that she is living in a dorm at college she has to deal with all the social stuff she never had before. It's a bit overwhelming. But you touched on so many of the same emotions she has experienced. Can't thank you enough for all you and your family have done for me and my family. You are all terrific for sharing your pain and growth with us. We have received more encouragement from knowing you such a short time compared with the many years we should have been receiving encouragement from our supposed brothers and sisters in the organization.

  We had one stay with us for a week. But he was older, in his early 40s. Was very down to earth, again a free thinker. Helped our family through a tough spot during that week - long story, had to do with a death in the family, JW v non JW family members and the memorial service. Anyway, he was cool, not arrogant. But maybe that's because of his age and had been around the Borg for a long time. Had a wonderful conversation with him about a guy he knew who wrote the society about something he had researched. They told him to keep it under wraps until the GB released it in the magazines. The guy couldn't keep it to himself and started talking in the congregation. They DF'd him. A year or so later the WT changed whatever they taught to what this guy had researched. The visiting MTS brother wondered why this guy wasn't reinstated and how bogus the whole ordeal was. He even bought beer to eat with our pizza on the last day of his visit. Often wonder what happened to him. We weren't the kind to keep in touch with the priveleged.

  THE LAST DOOR

  do you remember your "last door"?.

  it suddenly occured to me today that i had never thought about the last door that i knocked on out in field service.

  Don't remember the last door, but remember the conversation I had with the congregation secretary when he wanted me to turn in a field service report the first month I decided not to report. He was just sure I must have talked about Jehovah to someone during the month, and couldn't I please report at least one hour. Told him, yep I did talk about Jehovah during the month, probably at work, but I didn't pay attention to how much time...and that I would be a liar if I reported anything, it just wouldn't be honest. He never bothered me again - it was 8 months after that when I quit going to meetings cold turkey. How can you go to people's doors when you no longer believe this is God's organization? I just didn't have the heart to invite people to the Hall when there was so much hypocrisy and absence of true love. You are so right TR about conversations you have with people once they know you no longer are part of Dubdumb. Wonderful conversations! beautiful people! not wicked or evil like we were taught. Mrs R

  Question For Ex-JW Sisters

  school, got baptized, and started working the midnight shift, i went out in service

  Field service was always frustrating. Weekdays I usually ended up always in the same car group, either with Rocky's mom and sister-in-law, or with the moms with small children. Saturdays were either, again with my own family and mother-in-law, or me the only adult with 4 or 5 children under the age of 12. As for TMS parts, growing up my dad was the school overseer. My sis and I had to be ready to fill in at a moments notice. We were groomed to be public speakers from an early age and probably could have done a better job than most. Did we want to? No way! I was in the TMS for 30 years before I quit giving talks, rather cold turkey. Don't miss it a bit. But as for the young brother/elders not being able to make car groups, etc. - they just can't multi-task very well. Wonder if that is a gender specific thing? My best memories of service were going to the houses that were designated as 'do not calls.' The elders didn't like going to those for the annual 'do you still want to be on the list' call. So they sent Rocky - he's not afraid of too much. And usually he knew who these people were and they were friendly to him. We usually had very good visits, altho not necessarily pushing the WT agenda. But I'm with you Ven - oh the memories (don't miss it at all!)

  Tzu - that was Lin that has the two dogs and the rifle. Don't have a dog but do have the gun, but as much as I strongly dislike the WT, I don't think individual JWs are necessarily mailicious. I believe most rank and file keep doing what they are told without question because they don't know how to think for themselves. One of the first reactions to betrayal is anger. Anger can, but not always, beget violence. But as you grow and heal you realize violence isn't the answer. Rocky and I prefer messing with their heads.

  And yes, Tzu, I know the ones coming to the door have my eternal salvation in mind. After all I was a publisher for over 30 years myself. So again, another reason why I couldn't bring myself to shoot one of them. They are just misguided.

  Nope - not current. August 22. I already have the October 8. But then I think I must be on someone's perpetually 'not at home' list. Not a bad place to be.

  Radical Thoughts,

  There have been several posts speculating why WT stopped the subs. Some think it is to save money, others believe it is so WT has more control keep the WT out of the hands of apostates. They are continuing to deliver by mail until the subscription expiration date that appears on the magazine mailer cover. Thats why well still get them until March. Rockys mom renewed our subscription last March. They are putting warnings on the mailer in red ink. My second to last Awake had printed on it:

  only 1 issue remaining. Subscription service will be discontinued. obtain your personal copy through a congregation of jehovahs witnesses. The last issue says: expired! subscription service will be discontinued. obtain your personal copy through a congregation of jehovahs witnesses.

  Shunning? What About The Children??

  hi to eveyone,.

  i was d'fd 18 months ago, i was prepared for the shunning within my family and the borg of all my friends (as i never associated with "worldly people") but i have been totally blown away with how nobody cares about my 2 young children!!.

  my kids have not heard from their aunties and uncle since i was thrown out in feb '01.

  We aren't even DF'd or DA'd, we are inactive now for maybe 5 years. Rocky has one brother/sis-in-law still loyal to the WT, I have one sis/bro-in-law and bro/sis-in-law still in. Rocky's sis-in-law avoids any contact with our kids. My brother/sis-in-law haven't talked to the girls for a couple of years, although they talk to the other brother's kids all the time. I remember hearing at conventions that the Organization loves the kids and only wants what is best for them. LOL This shunning business has successfully put more miles between the kids and any hope of them becoming Witnesses - which is OK with me. So my heart goes out to you Tish, and to your children. It's rough helping them adjust to life outside, but believe me, they'll be better off without the Organization. Just love them all you can!

  Hi Lin,

  Isn't rural life great! I love being miles from nothing.

  So I guess I was surprised a little by the magazine because I do live way out in the country. And besides, Rocky's mom has kept our subscription going so that we will keep getting the magazines in the mail for at least another six months. The magazine in my door was one I already had...I only skim them now because they kinda make me nauseous with all the double speak and hypocrisy. I'm not sure that I would answer the door if I knew it was someone from the KH at my door.
